Group Games For Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts is all about instilling confidence and team building in our youth. One way to do this and keep the kids interested is by playing games. Listed below are a few group games for Boy Scouts.

Spud - This game has been a favorite of Boy Scouts for a long time. The only equipment needed is a Nerf ball or any other soft ball that won't hurt when it hits the body. Everyone gets a number and forms a circle with one boy in the middle. That boy throws up the ball and yells a number. Everyone scatters except the person with the number called. When they have the ball and yell "spud", everyone must freeze. They can take three giant steps toward whomever they want to hit. The target can move anything but their feet to avoid the ball. If they are hit, they get an "S". If the thrower misses, then they get the "S". When a scout reaches "S-P-U-D", they are out of the game.

Capture the Fort - The only equipment required is a Nerf or soccer ball. Divide the troop into two teams with at least 7 kids on each team. One team forms a circle facing out. This is the fort. Everyone in the circle must have their left hand on the right shoulder of the person next to them. It must stay here. The leader of the team is in the middle of the fort. The opposing team tries to kick the "bomb" (the ball) through the bodies of the circle or over the heads of the circle. Those in the circle can use their bodies or right hand to deflect the bomb, and the team leader can catch the bomb before it hits the ground and throw it back.
